<p>This week I have been using Talking-Point recorders with my 1st graders to help them improve their levels of English.  Depending on which model you buy, these little devices (which come in packs of six) can record 10 or 30 seconds of sound, and they have just three settings &#8211; Play, Record and Off.  I found 10 seconds recording time to be more than enough for facilitating most quick-fire activities, children can easily use them, and I liked the fact that you can get them in different colours.  As shown in the video I made below, my experience was that Talking-Point recorders were most useful for the following situations:</p>
<p>&#8211; As a stimulus for speaking &amp; listening through storytelling</p>
<p>&#8211; For interactive talking displays</p>
<p>&#8211; To provide spelling dictation exercises</p>
